Theme: Home Court Advantage

TEDxDelNorteHighSchool's 2024 theme is Home Court Advantage. At our school, we commonly use home court advantage to build an environment where everyone is supported, safe, and valued. TEDx provides one such platforms for speakers to share their ideas and bring people together for a common experience. We'll be covering a wide range of topics from entrepreneurship to science to art performances. Please fill out the sign up form if you are interested in registering as either a speaker or attendee.

Youth empowerment advocate and mental health speaker

Donovan Taylor Hall is a youth advocate and educator that teaches kids how to build positive self-identity. He has been featured on the Today Show, NowThis, DailyMailTV, and several podcasts to discuss the importance of positive youth development. Donovan teaches his self-skills curriculum through coaching, speeches, and online content. He is currently creating an educational entertainment show to help reach an even bigger audience of kids.

Mike Calvo

CEO and co-founder of Pneuma Solutions

Mike Calvo is the CEO and co-founder of Pneuma Solutions, a leading producer of Software for the visually impaired. The son of Cuban parents raised in Miami Florida , Mike has dedicated his career to ensuring technology is inclusive for all. His flagship product, RIM, provides accessible remote training and support, revolutionizing how the visually impaired interact with technology. Outside of his professional work, Mike enjoys producing music, spending time with his family, and grilling, embodying his passion for creativity and innovation in all aspects of his life.

Dr. Ramanarayanan Krishnamurthy is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the Scripps Research Institute and uses synthetic organic chemistry to research the formation of biological compounds.

Tarik Oguz

Tarik Oguz is a Del Norte High School student who excels academically and actively participates in extracurricular activities. His interests span STEM education, community service, athletics (including basketball, swimming and taekwondo), and music (playing the trombone). He is a co-founder of the Southern California chapter of Janyaa committed to empowering underprivileged communities through education and service.
